Under his watch, over 3,000 new businesses opened, and the Provo-Orem metro was ranked #1 in America for business two years in a row. Orem families deserve more time together, not stuck in traffic. Dave overhauled the Transportation Master Plan, prioritized connected neighborhoods, and stopped high-density overbuilds. He brings people together to plan with vision and values—putting families, safety, and responsible infrastructure first. Dave will continue working with other members of the council and community to help alleviate traffic.

Dave modernized city government to work better for you. He launched the Orem Transparency Portal, the Orem Contact App, and created Utah’s first Department of Strategy & Innovation. Residents now have real-time access to city services and decisions. Dave will continue driving innovation and accountability at every level of local government.

Dave kept his promise to protect Orem’s family-friendly character. He passed the Orem Land Preservation Act to safeguard parks, schools, and public lands from overdevelopment and rewrote the State Street Master Plan, eliminating 10,000 high-density units. With Dave’s leadership, Orem is balancing responsible growth with neighborhood integrity—keeping Orem a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Mayor Young rebuilt Orem’s leadership team, improved city morale, and challenged departments to deliver excellence. He restructured fire operations, launched a state-of-the-art training center, and helped Orem’s school resource officers earn national recognition. Dave will continue to support police, fire, and emergency services with the respect, resources, and leadership they deserve.

He oversaw construction of a 10-million-gallon water tank, a 1,000-foot well, and a $20 million water reuse project—boosting storage by 35% and reducing consumption citywide. He also delivered award-winning parks like Hillcrest and secured millions for turf and lighting upgrades. Dave is committed to sustainability, recreation, and preserving Orem’s quality of life for generations to come.
