Mayor Dave Young is a successful businessman, award-winning investment advisor, and proven public servant focused on leading Orem into a bright and family-focused future.

As the founder of Paragon Wealth Management, Dave has built a respected investment firm that has thrived for over 38 years through some of the most challenging markets in history. Under his leadership, Paragon has been recognized with fifteen Best of State awards, the NABCAP Premier Advisor designation five times, and the Advisors with Heart award for integrity and service.

Since being elected Mayor of Orem in 2021, Dave has delivered real results for families, businesses, and neighborhoods. Under his leadership:

• Opened a $35 million state-of-the-art City Hall with no new taxes or debt

• Achieved a AAA bond rating, saving taxpayers millions

• Secured tens of millions in grants for infrastructure, water conservation, and parks

• Created policies to attract 3,000 new businesses — earning Orem the title of #1 Small Metro for Business in the U.S.

• Passed landmark zoning reforms to protect parks, schools, and neighborhoods from overdevelopment

• Created Utah’s first Department of Strategy & Innovation to drive smarter city planning and accountability

• Established “Family City USA” as the standard for all city decisions — ensuring every policy supports strong families, safe neighborhoods, and a thriving community

In 2024 and 2025, Dave was named Utah’s Best of State Mayor, honoring his bold leadership and commitment to conservative values, transparency, and strong families.

Dave and his wife, Cathy, have lived in Orem for decades. They have five children and twelve grandchildren. He enjoys the outdoors, adventure travel, fitness, and quality time with family. 

With experience in business, finance, and good governance, Mayor Dave Young continues to serve with energy, integrity, and a clear vision for Orem’s future. He’s running for a second and final term to help keep Orem Family City, USA.
